Providing scholarships to deserving Bama-bound students from the Houston metro area is a major focus of the Houston, Texas Alumni Chapter.

It is only through the strong, continuous support of our chapter members and generous alumni and friends that we can award local students with scholarships from the Houston, Texas Alumni Chapter. Anybody can contribute to our chapter scholarships. It’s easy. Here are four ways:

5. Become an Event Sponsor

Sponsoring events for the UA Alabama Houston, Texas Alumni Chapter increases brand awareness for your business by putting your name in front of thousands of Houston-area residents. At the same time, it helps underwrite the cost of our events, thereby enabling us to contribute more proceeds to our scholarship funds. 6. Purchase UA Texas Car Tag

Participate in the Ride with the Tide Collegiate License Tag program by buying a UA Texas car tag. You can personalize it or purchase just the Alabama background. Funds from this program are used to match the annual gifts made to our chapter scholarships. Purchase here

Houston, Texas Alumni Chapter Endowed
Endowed October 1996

This scholarship is awarded to one or more entering freshmen from the Houston, Texas metro area based on academic achievement, leadership qualities, financial need and the potential to be future leaders of the Houston community. The award is automatically renewable for each subsequent year of a recipient’s undergraduate education, not to exceed eight semesters of undergraduate study, when a 3.0 GPA is maintained.

David E. Roberts, Jr. and Rebecca McKinney Roberts Endowed
Endowed October 2009

This scholarship alternates between the Houston Alumni Chapter and another alumni chapter in the state of Alabama. The Houston Alumni Chapter awards this scholarship in academic terms that end in even numbers. Selection is limited to entering freshmen students enrolling in the College of Arts and Sciences, College of Engineering, or the Capstone College of Nursing at The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa.

Roberts Engineering Endowed
Endowed January 2011

This is a one-year scholarship awarded to a student enrolled in the College of Engineering. First priority is given to a freshman and second priority is given to an undergraduate student. Selections are made by the Dean of Engineering and The University of Alabama National Alumni Association.

Houston Strong Alumni Endowed
Endowed January 2018

Whether Houston area residents are recovering from a national disaster or cheering a hometown professional sports teams to a come-from-behind win, they never give up. They are Houston Strong, and this scholarship honors their resiliency and can-do attitude. This four-year renewable scholarship is designed for an incoming freshman with financial need who has persisted in overcoming challenges. It is awarded by The University of Alabama National Alumni Association.
