Alumni Scholarship Assistance Program (A$AP)

The Alumni Association has put together a program to help students through the complicated and confusing admission and scholarship application processes.

This event is perfect for high school juniors and seniors, who have not yet submitted their UA Application for Admission. Please join us!

The presentation includes reviewing the Web-based UA Application for Scholarships. Step-by- step instructions are reviewed and a copy of the scholarship application is included for each student to review and make notes on. We suggest to the students what type of things to list in each section of the résumé and explain what scholarship committee members are looking for when choosing a recipient. We review the different scholarships that are available through the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and The Alumni Association along with the criteria required for each of them. We inform the students of any scholarships that are available through the local chapter. There is also a flyer listing some of the scholarships available through the Admissions Office. In addition, the booklet includes:

— College prep tips
— Helpful advice from current students
— Tips for Preparing the scholarship application
— External Resources – websites for open scholarships
— Brochures from the Financial Aid Office and Residential Housing
— Handouts providing contact information of several departments on campus
— Suggestions on how to get involved on campus
— Information on the Alumni-hosted individualized student campus tour Discovering BAMA

The program ends with a question and answer session to address any issues the students or parents may have.

How long will it last?
The presentation and question-and-answer session usually last about an hour, maybe a little longer depending on questions.
